CrackDown

Crackdown pushes the action-driving hybrid genre into the next generation with the introduction of the first-ever truly 3-dimensional persistent playground, highly innovative co-op gameplay and an extensive prop interaction system all while taking place in a massive and highly-stylized urban center. Players are called to unleash explosive judicial oppression on the most powerful, organized crime syndicates in existence. Restitution is the only goal. Players must crackdown on crime, decipher the organization of the gangs, and eliminate the kingpins. All strategies and tactics are acceptable provided players clean up the streets. Halo 3 News

Last week, Microsoft debuted a new Halo 3 trailer on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. At the same time, halo3.com launched, allowing gamers to sign up for a chance to be part of the Halo 3 multiplayer demo next spring.

Today, Microsoft revealed that more than 140,000 people signed up for the North American beta within the first 24 hours. During that period, halo3.com was bogged down with requests and for many the sign-up page would not load. Registration is still open to the public. To participate in the beta, you need an Xbox 360 with hard drive, an Xbox Live Gold account and a Microsoft.NET Passport account linked to your gamertag.

Microsoft and Bungie have other methods planned to allow gamers to get into the public beta. Those methods are expected to be announced soon.

Oldest person Dies

From the Associated Press, Elizabeth Bolden, recognized as the world’s oldest person, died early Monday. She was 116. Bolden was born August 15, 1890, according to the Gerontology Research Group, a Los Angeles-based organization that tracks the ages of the world’s oldest people. Guinness World Records recognized Bolden as the oldest person in August after the death of Maria Ester de Capovilla of Ecuador, who previously was listed as the oldest. Family members said Bolden had 40 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, 150 great-great-grandchildren, 220 great-great-great grandchildren and 75 great-great-great-great grandchildren. Now, if only she had a living will.
